How to win at Texas Holdem
Texas Holdem is easy to learn but as is true for all games which require skill it takes a long period of practice to become a player which wins more than he loses.
In gambling and especially in gambling on cards like blackjack and poker requires few qualities from a player but the main quality required is Patience. There is no need to bid and play on every hand. You can increase your chances of winning if you are patient and bid on the good hands.
You have to known how all your opponent’s are playing, whether they are playing conservatively or with aggression. A player who is aggressive and is playing loosely will bluff with you. You can beat him by increasing the stake or by check raising him. You must be looking at other players all the time so that you know what their style is, how will they react to a particular situation. Normally a patient player who is playing tight will play the “nuts “ in the early rounds but later on he will try to win the pot by betting big on a bluff. If you feel he is bluffing and trying to steal the pot, just stand your ground and raise the bet. Usually if a player of his nature calls quickly he also folds in the same manner. Otherwise he may put you on a higher hand and fold and waits for his hand to come along.
It is necessary to understand the betting style of all the opponents. Is he betting on flop, turn and river or playing his hand In a slow manner. Does he have a good hand or is he looking for one? This analysis will help when the blinds are higher.
When you are playing Pocket Pairs remember the following. More the players higher the risks. Wait for the flop and if your pocket pair is higher then the board, what you need to do is bet in a aggressive manner, and wait for the other players reaction. If by looking at the reaction of the other players it looks like you need to fold then just fold. Remember later in the game when there are less players, pocket pairs increase in strength, because you are not on a draw.
In Texas Holdem Bluffing is an important part. There is tendency in the players to bluff more on line, so it is very helpful if you can get to known a players style so that you can know whether he is bluffing or not.
Also being patient is a very important part of the game. You have to keep cool and keep your emotions in control. Think about what you are doing. If you remain patient and play with your brains and not your heart your chances of winning will increase. Always remember to win small is better than losing big.
