Defining Texas Holdem Poker terms

1. Fixed Limit Texas Holdem Poker
As evident by the name. The amount a player can bet is limited to a predetermined amount which is described in the limit description of the room as $10/15. This means that you can bet $10 in pre-flop, flop and $15 dollar in the turn and river.

2. Pot Limit Texas Holdem Poker
In this game although limits are there but they are not defined before the game. The limit is set in relation to the current size of the pot. As the pot rises so does the limti.

3. No Limit Texas Holdem Poker
The No Limit Poker Holdem is not for the faint heart ed. There is no limit on betting. This game is played normally by experienced poker players. Sometimes casinos place a limit on the number of times a player is allowed to raise in one hand.

4. Blind Bet
A Blind bet is a bet which the player has to bet compulsory. Blind bets are placed before the game starts and no cards have been given to the players. The first two players sitting next to dealer on its left side place these bets. €.

5. Call
A call signals the fact that you are exercising your option for betting. In poker you call to match the bet placed by another player.

6. Check
This means you are not placing a bet. This option can only be utilized if all the players before you have also utilized this option.

7. Fold
This means you are not going to bet anymore in this particular hand.

8. Raise
This means to increase the pot size by placing a bet higher then the previous player.

9. Going ‘All In’
It means to bet everything you have. If you win you will receive the percentage of the pot you have placed as a bet.

10. Dealer Button
The dealer button signifies the person who is the dealer for that particular hand. It is button which is used as a token and pases in a clockwise direction. It also determines the players who needs to place the blind bet.

11. Pre-Flop
This is the first hand in Texas holdem poker. Players gets two cards which are known as pocket cards.

12. Flop, Turn and River
The flop is the second round in Texas holdem poker, and starts with the first three communal cards are dealt face up on the poker table. These cards are known as communal cards because all the players can utilize these card to create the best 5 card hand. When the fourth communal card is given face up it is called the the turn and it also means that the fourth round has started. The river means that the final round of Texas Holdem Poker has strated and another card the fifth one is placed face up on the poker table.
